Leon C. “Bud” Reimler, 88, of Sumner, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. Burial will follow at Union Mound Cemetery in Sumner. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church Monday. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or the Sumner Volunteer Fire Dept.
Leon Charles, son of Fred and Blanche Robertson Reimler, was born August 11, 1928, in Sumner, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, received his education in the Sumner Schools and graduated from Sumner High School in 1945. He was united in marriage with Alice Schult at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Bud and Alice made their home in Sumner, and Bud owned and operated H.J. Schult Son Feed & Grain of Sumner prior to retiring in 1992. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served as deacon on a couple of occasions, served twenty-five years on the Sumner Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Hospital Board, and played on the quite well-known Sumner Cubs amateur baseball team many years ago.
In addition to his wife, Alice of Sumner, he is survived by his children, Jane (Bill) Biskup of Texas City, Texas, Robert (Kathy) Reimler of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Thomas (Kristine) Reimler of Holmen, Wisconsin, and Michael (Tammy) Reimler of Rogers, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Kristin (Robert) Pollack, Brent (Amelie) Biskup, Nicholas (Jill) Reimler, Aaron Reimler, and Nathan Reimler; and six great grandchildren.
Bud was preceded in death by a son, William; a daughter, Catherine; his parents; and one brother, Gene.
